ReplyDeleteMaybe a little late, but I did want to say that while I rarely read the 5 or 6 page CBR previews, I did happen to read the preview of the first Muppet Show #1 and it convinced me to buy the comic, so in that case the preview did its job. And what's up with unlettered previews? I don't buy comics solely for the art so those are annoying and do more to turn me against a book than make me want to buy it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, on the topic of sex in comics, you guys talked about how it is usually poorly done, but what about some examples of sex done well in comics? Even though Frank Miller week is over, do you think the Sin City sex scenes are effective? That was the first book that popped in my head. Sure, they're not realistic, but they fit the tone of the work well and aren't embarrassingly out of place like most comic sex scenes. What say you?
