When Words Collide: Lyga's Legion

Barry Lyga likes the Legion. I like the Legion. What happens when we e-mail each other about it? We get the newest installment of "When Words Collide," a column full of wit and wisdom and reflections on the Legion's past, present, and future.

How do we feel about "The Great Darkness Saga"?

What's better, the Five Year Gap or "Legion Lost"?

How much matter can Matter-Eater Lad eat?

These are questions we may or may not answer in this week's WWC: "Lyga's Legion."

    The plug was much appreciated!

Also, I once discussed the LSH with Alan Moore at some length. But I'm saving that anecdote until someone makes me a good enough offer.

  2. I might be remembering this wrong but i think when Alan Moore was working for Wildstorm on the ABC line, he and Jim Lee were throwing around ideas for a Legion project. This was in that very short period of time where Alan was actually pretty happy with how DC kept true to their word, and stayed out of his work, and as we all know it didn't last for long.

The Legion were also a part of his "Twilight Of The Superheroes" pitch.

    Tim -

Your dialogue with Barry Lyga on the LEGION was outstanding. It almost made up for the fact that DC has cancelled the title again.

Maybe they should hand the writing of the book over to Lyga and you to write - that might be a terrific idea.

By the way, I don't think it's out of line to consider the idea that Batman could take Karate Kid. Who says that fighting skills will always get better in the future? Could an extreme fighter of today take on a warrior from the 14th century and win? I kind of doubt it...we'll just get softer in the future.

I mean, is the name "Polar Boy" really any more ridiculous than "Iceman?" Same powers. Why is one "cool" and the other not?
