As promised (or threatened), Chad Nevett and I produced a comic book podcast. A few things your should know:
1. Even though Chad and I have worked together for years, we have never spoken to one another until this recording.
2. My computer couldn't handle the awesomeness, and crashed at 8-10 minute intervals as we spoke about various comic-related topics.
3. So we completely lost our entire opening about "Joe the Barbarian" and "New Avengers."
4. And we lost plenty of other stuff too.
5. But it's not bad for a first episode, and I was able to piece together enough bits to make a nearly-hour-long episode out of whatever was saved from our discussion.
6. It's posted on the Geniusboy Live feed, so you can find it by searching for that on iTunes, though it takes about 24 hours to show up there after it's first posted on the feed.
Until then, you can listen to it HERE.
If you demand more episodes, we will try to make it happen. Somehow. With fewer technical difficulties.

Sadly all of our best stuff was lost, of course. Or maybe not. I don't know.
I really liked it. The first half hour was more review-oriented, but even hearing about the CBR/DC relationship, as well as the role of the online reviewer in such detail was interesting in itself.
On a more personal note, I think that both your characters really come through from your very voices. Specifically, Tim comes off very enthusiastically and sure of himself, while Chad seems more analytical. Unfortunately, Chad's parts weren't recorded so well, so his responses were a bit broken up in parts.
In any event, I look forward to seeing the continuing evolution of the Splash page concept :)
tim, what did you guys use to record ? a lot of the skype recorders gave me trouble too when i was recording but i have found that powergramo and wiretap studio appear to be the best skype recorders out there.
overall though the show itself was very good and a nice extension of the splash page column. it was cool to finally put a voice to the names. I agree with Chad on Hal Jordan, I share the same undying hatred for him but i can't really explain why. I think the only story that i dug with Hal was The New Frontier.
We used iChat and Garageband.
Really enjoyed it. Cheers!

Donkey Kong?
Vanja -- Future recordings will, hopefully, sound better. I'll also try to avoid speaking so quickly at times. Tim is a much better speaker than I. To be fair, I warned everyone ahead of time... Thanks for the nice comments. If we sound like we write it's because, as we said, we're one draft writers, so our writing would be pretty close to how we speak. I know that's how I try to write a lot of the time.
mal -- I recorded my intro to this week's Fourcast with Audacity, so I think we'll give that a shot and see how it sounds. If only because I'm too lazy to download something else. Thanks, though.
And thanks, Donkey Kong.
Listening to your description of why you enjoyed Hal Jordan was interesting because of how that side of his personality doesn't come through in Johns Green Lantern at all. To the point where he comes off as easily one of the blandest characters in comics currently. I am a Kyle Rayner fan and I think my moment for that was in World War 3 when he willed his ring to work again.
Enjoyed the 'cast. I echo Tim's sentiments mightily on Ennis' "The Boys." I just don't think it works, and I think the main reason is that Ennis isn't just satirizing superheroes here, he actively hates them.
Compelling listening, guys. Keep it up!
Chad doesn't sound canadian.
Sound quality could be better.
Awesome. I'd like to have a strong comic podcast to listen to while I'm at work besides word balloon.
To be honest, you guys almost lost me with your take on The Boys, because I've had the opposite reaction, where I thought the first couple of dozen issues were just okay, but the last year or so has taken the whole thing to a new level.
(Ennis doesn't hate really superheroes, he just thinks they're a bit silly. Pat Mills hates superheroes and Marshall Law remains the finest word on that hatred.)
But despite this disagreement, I'm glad I stuck with the podcast. Good stuff, with plenty of room still left for improvement. Looking forward to more....
More podcasts please...
Bob -- Our take on The Boys wasn't unified... we actually disagreed...
Justin -- More will be coming.
I don't really have the attention span for more than 15 minutes of podcast. Nor do I have a pod on which to cast them.
You guys don't sound like you do in my head. Try to sound more like that.
I don't sound like I do in my own head. I've been trying for years to sound like that. It's much better than how I actually sound.
Next time, I will speak with the voice of James Mason. Indeed.
I feel like I've been cheated on. I understand, but ... it still hurts, you know?
