We read Maus, and my students had to pick a scene and write a descriptive essay on it. One of the building exercises was to make a diorama of their chosen scene to help them "feel" the details and therefore remember to include them in their written description of the scene. In theory, it was a brilliant idea (if I do say so myself). But in practice, most of my college students made diorama's that fail in comparison to your son's :-(

Still, what was really cool was that we displayed them in the small rectangular book shelves in the classroom, in the order that the scenes appear in the book. In effect, we made a 3-D comic! My students didn't care, but I thought it was cool :-)

I really need to put the pictures of that up on my blog...Ben Villarrealhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06988256305990891816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22842788.post-50126613181905304102009-02-16T12:10:00.000-05:002009-02-16T12:10:00.000-05:00The Rat-Creature is off, otherwise great work:)The Rat-Creature is off, otherwise great work:)Vanjahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02796186915343967167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22842788.post-65043870096145563372009-02-16T08:46:00.000-05:002009-02-16T08:46:00.000-05:00That's awesome! That's awesome!Justin Steinerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09151752685005651437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22842788.post-73640988704457274382009-02-16T01:01:00.000-05:002009-02-16T01:01:00.000-05:00I hope I can gave my kid reading Grant Morrison by...I hope I can gave my kid reading Grant Morrison by age 10.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
